  • Total Time: 1 hour 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 loaf 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A deliciously moist and tender banana bread swirled with crushed Oreo cookies. This easy-to-make loaf is a fun twist on the classic, perfect for a special breakfast, snack, or dessert.

Ingredients

Scale

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs, at room temperature
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 34 bananas)
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped Oreo cookies, plus extra for topping

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. Step 2: In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream the softened butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  3. Step 3: Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Step 4: Stir in the mashed bananas, milk, and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Step 5: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Step 6: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed or by hand until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  7. Step 7: Gently fold the 1 cup of chopped Oreo cookies into the batter.
  8. Step 8: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the top with extra chopped Oreos.
  9. Step 9: Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs but no wet batter.
  10. Step 10: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For the best flavor and natural sweetness, use very ripe, heavily speckled bananas.

Avoid overmixing the batter after adding the flour to ensure a tender, not tough, bread.

Store the cooled bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
