Description
A quick and easy weeknight meal featuring savory ground beef and crisp broccoli florets tossed in a flavorful ginger-garlic sauce. This dish comes together in under 30 minutes and is perfect served over rice.
Ingredients
For the Sauce:
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/4 cup beef broth
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon cornstarch
For the Stir Fry:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound lean ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
4 cups broccoli florets
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
For Garnish (optional):
Sesame seeds
Sliced green onions
Instructions
- Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients: soy sauce, beef broth, honey, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
- Step 2: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Step 3: Add the ground beef and chopped onion. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes, breaking up the meat, until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
- Step 4: Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger. Cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Step 5: Add the broccoli florets and 1/4 cup of water to the skillet. Cover and steam for 3 to 4 minutes, until the broccoli is bright green and tender-crisp.
- Step 6: Give the sauce a final whisk and pour it into the skillet with the beef and broccoli.
- Step 7: Stir everything together and cook for 1 to 2 minutes, allowing the sauce to simmer and thicken until it coats the ingredients.
- Step 8: Remove from the heat and serve immediately over rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions if desired.
Notes
For a spicier dish, add 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes or sriracha to the sauce.
Ensure broccoli florets are cut into similar-sized pieces for even cooking.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
