Description
A refreshing and sweet iced tea infused with a simple, homemade strawberry syrup, perfect for a warm day.
Ingredients
Scale
8 cups water (divided)
8 black tea bags
1 tsp baking soda
4 cups strawberries (chopped)
1½ cups granulated sugar
Instructions
- Step 1: Bring 2 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan.
- Step 2: Once boiling, remove the pan from the heat, add the tea bags, and let them steep for 5 minutes.
- Step 3: Remove the tea bags, squeezing out any excess tea.
- Step 4: Transfer the concentrated tea into a large pitcher and add 4 cups of water and the baking soda.
- Step 5: In the same saucepan, combine the remaining 2 cups of water, chopped strawberries, and sugar. Bring to a low simmer for 20 minutes.
- Step 6: Remove the strawberry mixture from the heat and allow the syrup to cool down.
- Step 7: Strain the syrup through a fine mesh sieve into a small cup, pressing on the strawberries to extract all the juice.
- Step 8: Add the finished strawberry syrup to the large pitcher with the tea and stir well to combine.
- Step 9: Pour into glasses and serve over ice.
Notes
Adjust the amount of sugar to your desired sweetness.
For a clearer tea, avoid squeezing the tea bags too hard.
