Easy Crock Pot Pear Butter | A Simple Slow Cooker Recipe

  • Total Time: 11 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 14 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A simple and delicious pear butter recipe made in a crock pot, perfect for spreading on toast, muffins, or using as a fruit dip.

Ingredients

Scale

5 pounds bartlett pears
¾ cup brown sugar
1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 large strip of orange peel

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Wash, core, and slice the pears. Do not peel them, but do remove any brown spots or blemishes.
  2. Step 2: Place the prepared pears into the slow cooker. Add the brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and nutmeg, then toss to coat. Place the large strip of orange peel on top.
  3. Step 3: Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 6 hours. The pears are done when they mash easily with a fork.
  4. Step 4: Remove the orange peel. Use an immersion blender to puree the pears in the slow cooker, or transfer the mixture to a blender and puree until smooth. Keep the slow cooker on high with the lid on while blending to maintain heat.
  5. Step 5: Taste the blended pear butter and add more sugar if you prefer it sweeter.
  6. Step 6: Return the pureed pear butter to the slow cooker and cook for one additional hour on high with the lid off to thicken.
  7. Step 7: Transfer the pear butter into clean jars, seal with lids, and refrigerate until cooled.

Notes

Serve on bread, toast, crackers, muffins, pancakes, or as a fruit dip.
