Description

A refreshing and sweet iced tea infused with a homemade fresh peach simple syrup, perfect for a sunny day.


Ingredients

1 cup organic cane sugar
1 cup water
2 ripe peaches, thinly sliced, plus more for serving
23 Tbsp loose leaf black tea (or 34 tea bags)
8 cups filtered water


Instructions

  1. Step 1: To make the peach simple syrup, bring sugar, 1 cup of water, and 2 sliced peaches to a boil in a small saucepan.
  2. Step 2: Lower the heat and use a wooden spoon to stir and crush the peaches to infuse their flavor into the syrup.
  3. Step 3: Once the sugar is dissolved, cover the saucepan, remove it from the heat, and let it steep for 25-30 minutes.
  4. Step 4: While the syrup steeps, brew the tea using 8 cups of filtered water in a large pot or tea maker. Steep for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Step 5: After steeping, remove the tea bags or strain out the loose leaf tea. Transfer the brewed tea to a pitcher and place it in the refrigerator to cool.
  6. Step 6: Pour the finished simple syrup through a fine mesh strainer into a bottle or container to remove the peach solids.
  7. Step 7: To serve, pour the cooled tea over ice and fresh sliced peaches. Add the peach simple syrup to your desired sweetness and stir.

Notes

Use less tea if you prefer it weaker or more tea if you prefer it stronger.

Try not to let the tea steep longer than 4-5 minutes or it can become bitter.

You can reserve the strained peaches for later use, such as a topping for oats or ice cream sundaes.

For serving, you can add all the simple syrup to the pitcher at once or keep it separate for guests to add themselves.
