Description
A zesty and flavorful compound butter made with herbs, spices, Dijon mustard, and a kick of horseradish, perfect for serving with steak, bread, or vegetables.
Ingredients
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 shallot, minced
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
2 teaspoons minced chives
1 garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon minced fresh thyme
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
1/8 teaspoon paprika
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Step 1: In a small bowl, whisk together the softened butter, shallot, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, parsley, horseradish, chives, garlic, thyme, salt, pepper, paprika and cayenne pepper until fully combined.
- Step 2: Transfer the butter mixture to a sheet of plastic wrap.
- Step 3: Roll the mixture up into a log shape within the plastic wrap.
- Step 4: Twist the ends of the plastic wrap in opposite directions to tighten the log.
- Step 5: Refrigerate the butter log until it is chilled and firm.
- Step 6: To serve, unwrap the butter log and cut it into slices or place it on a butter dish.
Notes
To easily wrap the butter log, place the butter mixture on the center of the plastic wrap. Use your hands to flatten and roll it into a cylinder shape, then twist the ends to secure the roll.
