  • Total Time: 2 hours 15 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A classic, creamy fruit salad combining pineapple, oranges, cherries, grapes, and marshmallows in a sweet whipped cream and sour cream dressing, finished with crunchy pecans.

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups Fresh Pineapple, cut into small pieces
1 15-ounce can Mandarin Oranges, drained
14 ounces Maraschino Cherries, drained
1 cup Sweetened Shredded Coconut
3 cups Marshmallows
1 1/3 cup Heavy Cream
3 Tablespoons Sugar
1/4 cup Sour Cream
1 cup Green Grapes, cut into half
1/2 cup Pecans, chopped

Instructions

  1. Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream and sugar. Whip with a mixer until soft peaks form.
  2. Step 2: Gently fold the sour cream into the whipped cream mixture. Taste and add more sugar if a sweeter salad is desired.
  3. Step 3: In a separate large bowl, combine the pineapple, drained mandarin oranges, drained maraschino cherries, shredded coconut, marshmallows, grapes, and chopped pecans.
  4. Step 4: Carefully pour the whipped cream mixture over the fruit mixture and gently fold everything together until well combined.
  5. Step 5: Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to develop before serving.

Notes

Make sure to thoroughly drain the canned fruit to prevent the salad from becoming runny.

Chilling the salad for at least 2 hours is important for the flavors to meld together.

For a sweeter ambrosia, you can add more sugar to the whipped cream dressing.
