- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1/4 cup green bell pepper, diced
- 1/4 cup red bell pepper, diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 tablespoons tomato paste
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 pound spaghetti, cooked in salted water
- 1 cup reserved pasta water
- Salt, to taste
- Pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until softened.
- Add the ground beef and cook until browned.
- Drain any excess grease.
- Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Cajun seasoning. Stir well.
- Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato paste and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
- Add the flour and stir for 3 to 4 minutes.
- Slowly pour in the beef broth while stirring to keep the sauce smooth.
- Simmer for 5 to 8 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the cooked spaghetti to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Add pasta water a little at a time if the sauce needs thinning.
Notes
- Use the reserved pasta water to adjust the sauce texture.
- Cook the tomato paste long enough to build a deeper flavor.
- Taste the sauce before serving and adjust salt and pepper.
- Serve right away for the best texture.
