Blackberry Cream Cheese Bars with Pretzel Crust

  • Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes
  • Yield: 12 servings 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

A layered dessert with a sweet and salty pretzel crust, a smooth cream cheese filling, and a rich blackberry topping.

Ingredients

Scale

2½ cups crushed pretzels
2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons flour
½ cup melted butter
8 ounce room temperature cream cheese
1 cup powdered sugar
8 ounce cool whip
21 ounce blackberry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F and spray a 9×13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Step 2: In a medium bowl, mix together the crushed pretzels, vanilla, brown sugar, and flour.
  3. Step 3: Pour the melted butter into the pretzel mixture and stir until all the ingredients are well combined.
  4. Step 4: Reserve about a half cup of the pretzel mixture for the topping. Press the rest of the mixture into an even layer in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  5. Step 5: Bake the crust for 10 to 12 minutes, then remove it from the oven and let it cool completely.
  6. Step 6: While the crust cools, beat the cream cheese in a medium bowl until it is smooth.
  7. Step 7: Add the powdered sugar to the cream cheese and beat until combined. Gently fold in the cool whip until the mixture is smooth.
  8. Step 8: Once the crust has completely cooled, spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the top.
  9. Step 9: Spoon the blackberry pie filling over the cream cheese layer and spread it out evenly.
  10. Step 10: Sprinkle the reserved pretzel mixture over the blackberry layer.
  11. Step 11: Cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving.

Notes

Ensuring the crust is completely cool before adding the cream cheese layer is crucial to prevent melting and separation.

For a smooth, lump-free filling, make sure the cream cheese is at room temperature before beating.

This dessert needs at least 4 hours to chill and set properly, so plan accordingly.
