Description

Air Fryer Churro Bites Recipe made with simple pantry ingredients and coated in cinnamon sugar. These bite sized churros are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and easy to prepare in the air fryer for a quick homemade dessert or sweet snack.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Dough

1 cup water
1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup plain flour (all purpose flour such as King Arthur)
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla essence

For the Cinnamon Sugar Coating

1 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon powder

Optional for Serving

Chocolate syrup
Honey
Chocolate hazelnut spread

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, sugar, and salt. Heat on high until it begins to boil and the butter melts completely.
  2. Reduce the heat and gradually add the flour while stirring continuously. Mix until the dough forms a smooth ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan.
  3. Transfer the dough to a mixing bowl and allow it to cool for about 4 to 5 minutes.
  4. Add the egg and vanilla essence to the dough. Use an electric hand mixer to combine until smooth and glossy.
  5. Place the dough in a piping bag. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray the basket with nonstick cooking spray.
  6. Pipe small bite sized portions of dough into the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  7. Brush the tops lightly with melted butter and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown.
  8. In a shallow bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon powder.
  9. While the churro bites are still warm, roll them in the cinnamon sugar mixture until evenly coated.
  10. Serve warm with chocolate sauce, honey, or hazelnut spread if desired.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Cook in batches if necessary for even crisping.

Coat the churro bites in cinnamon sugar while still warm so the mixture sticks better.

If the sugar does not stick well, lightly brush the churros with melted butter before rolling them in the coating.

Leftover churros can be reheated in the air fryer for a few minutes to restore their crisp texture.
