Description

Spaghetti Stuffed Garlic Bread is crispy garlic bread shaped into boats, filled with hearty meat sauce and spaghetti, then topped with melted mozzarella and baked until golden and bubbly. It is an easy, family friendly dinner that combines classic pasta night flavors into a fun handheld meal perfect for weeknights or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound loaf frozen garlic bread, thawed
8 ounces thin spaghetti, cooked and drained
8 ounce block mozzarella cheese, shredded
56 ounce can crushed tomatoes
pounds ground beef
1 cup small diced onion
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon kosher salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add diced onions, garlic, Italian seasoning, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook for 2 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook for 5 to 6 minutes until browned. Drain excess grease.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until thickened.
  4. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Line a large baking sheet with foil.
  5. Cut thawed garlic bread into 4 equal pieces. With a knife, create a border around each piece without cutting through. Press down the center with a spoon to form boats.
  6. In a large bowl, combine cooked spaghetti with 4 cups of meat sauce. Toss until coated.
  7. Divide spaghetti mixture evenly into the bread boats. Top each with shredded mozzarella.
  8. Bake for 25 minutes until cheese is melted and lightly golden. Broil for 2 to 3 minutes if desired for extra browning.

Notes

Use freshly shredded mozzarella for the best melt.

Allow sauce to simmer long enough so it is thick and not watery.

Do not overfill the bread boats to prevent spilling.

Let the baked boats rest for 5 minutes before serving to help the filling set.
