Description

Salisbury Steak Meatballs with Beefy Onion Gravy is a one-skillet comfort meal featuring juicy meatballs in a rich onion gravy. Serve over mashed potatoes or noodles for a cozy family dinner. Try this hearty classic tonight!

Ingredients

Scale

1 lb ground beef

1 large egg

1/4 cup panko breadcrumbs

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp black pepper

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp cooking oil

1 tbsp butter

1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced

1 cup beef broth

1 packet (0.87 oz) dry gravy mix

1/4 cup water

Chopped fresh parsley (optional)

Instructions

  1. Make the Meatball Mixture: In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined.
  2. Form Meatballs: Use a 1 1/2-inch cookie scoop or your hands to form uniform meatballs.
  3. Brown the Meatballs: Heat oil and butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add meatballs and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. Prepare the Onion Gravy: In the same skillet, add a little more oil and butter if needed. Saute sliced onions over medium heat until soft and golden brown.
  5. Make the Gravy: Stir in beef broth, water, and the dry gravy mix. Whisk until smooth.
  6. Simmer Meatballs: Return the meatballs to the skillet, bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes until meatballs are cooked through.
  7. Serve and Garnish: Dish up hot over mashed potatoes or noodles. Finish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley for added freshness.

Notes

Use leaner meats for a lighter version. Add mushrooms to the gravy for extra flavor. Store leftovers for up to 4 days or freeze for later.
