Description

Orange Red Velvet Nutella Swirl Brownies combine the bold flavor of red velvet with fresh orange zest and a rich Nutella swirl. A vibrant, fudgy treat perfect for holidays, parties, or cozy weekends. Easy to make and packed with flavor, these brownies are as stunning as they are delicious.

Ingredients

Scale

The Base:

½ cup (113g) unsalted butter, cubed

1½ cups (250g) mini chocolate chips (or white chocolate for brighter red)

3 large eggs, room temperature

12 teaspoons red food coloring (gel paste recommended)

1 teaspoon white vinegar

Zest of 1 medium orange

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup (65g) all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

The Swirl:

to ½ cup Nutella, slightly warmed

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang to lift the brownies out easily.
  2. Melt the Base: Set a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water to create a double boiler. Add the butter and chocolate chips, whisking until melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  3. Infuse the Red Velvet Flavor: While the mixture is still warm, whisk in the red food coloring, white vinegar, orange zest, and vanilla extract. These ingredients build the red velvet’s signature taste and vivid color.
  4. Incorporate the Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition until the batter is glossy and smooth.
  5. Mix the Dry Ingredients: Gently fold in the flour and salt using a spatula. Stir just until no streaks of flour remain.
  6. Add the Nutella Swirl: Pour the batter into the lined pan. Transfer warmed Nutella to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a snipped corner. Pipe zig-zags across the top of the batter. Use a skewer or knife tip to drag through the lines, creating a marbled swirl.
  7. Bake to Perfection: Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. The center should be set and a toothpick inserted into the red velvet portion should come out with moist crumbs.
  8. Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool completely in the pan. Once set, lift out using the parchment overhang, slice into squares, and enjoy!

Notes

Use white chocolate chips for a brighter red velvet color.

Slightly warming Nutella makes it easier to swirl.

Let the brownies cool fully before slicing for the best fudgy texture.

Store at room temp for 3 days, or freeze up to 2 months.
