Description

Gingerbread Snowball Cookies combine the warm, comforting spices of gingerbread with the buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture of classic snowballs. These festive cookies are perfect for the holiday season and come together in just 25 minutes. Great for gifting or enjoying with family, they’re rolled in powdered sugar for that extra holiday sparkle!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Powdered sugar (for rolling)

Instructions

  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a stand mixer, cream together butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  • Add salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and molasses. Mix thoroughly.
  • Slowly add flour and mix until combined. Chill dough for 30 minutes if it’s too soft.
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Roll dough into 1-inch balls or use a small cookie scoop. Place on the prepared baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until just set but not browned.
  • Let cookies cool for 15 minutes, then roll in powdered sugar.
  • Once fully cooled, roll them in powdered sugar again to ensure a thick coating.

Notes

  • For the best results, fluff up your flour before measuring to avoid dense cookies.
  • If the dough is too soft to handle, chill for about 30 minutes before shaping.
  • Nutritional values do not include the powdered sugar used for rolling.
