Description
Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes is a quick and hearty one-pan dinner made with juicy steak bites, crispy golden potatoes, and rich garlic herb butter. Perfect for weeknights or family meals.
Ingredients
3 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp Italian seasoning
2 tsp paprika
2 lbs cubed steak (sirloin, NY strip, or preferred cut)
2 lbs Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and diced into bite-sized pieces
2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp browning sauce (optional)
2 tbsp olive oil
6 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
2 tbsp fresh garlic, minced
1 tsp salt (for butter)
Garnish: fresh parsley, red pepper flakes
Instructions
Step 1 – Make the seasoning mix
In a small mixing bowl, stir together the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, Italian seasoning, and paprika. Divide into two equal portions.
Step 2 – Prepare the garlic butter
In another bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic and chopped parsley until well blended. Set aside.
Step 3 – Season the steak
Add cubed steak to a large bowl. Pour in Worcestershire sauce and browning sauce (if using). Sprinkle with half the seasoning mix and toss to coat evenly.
Step 4 – Parboil the potatoes
Place potatoes in boiling water for 5–6 minutes until slightly softened. Drain well. Coat the potatoes with the remaining seasoning blend and drizzle with 1 tablespoon of olive oil, tossing until evenly coated.
Step 5 – Sear the steak
Warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Sear steak cubes for 5–7 minutes until browned. Transfer to a plate.
Step 6 – Cook the potatoes
In the same skillet, add potatoes and cook 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden and fork-tender.
Step 7 – Combine and finish
Return steak to skillet. Stir in garlic butter, tossing until everything is coated in buttery, garlicky goodness. Garnish with parsley and red pepper flakes.
Notes
Parboiling potatoes ensures a crisp crust and tender inside.
Avoid overcrowding the pan for better searing.
Garlic butter can be made ahead and stored up to 5 days in the fridge or frozen up to 3 months.
