Description

Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy is a creamy, comforting slow cooker meal made with tender chicken breasts and rich homemade-style gravy. Serve over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles for a cozy dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale

1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Garlic powder (to taste)

Salt (to taste)

Black pepper (to taste)

2 packets chicken gravy mix

1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup

2 cups water

½ cup sour cream

Sliced green onions (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  • Season the chicken
Place the chicken breasts on a plate and sprinkle both sides with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper to taste.

  • Prepare the gravy base
In your slow cooker, whisk together the two packets of chicken gravy mix, the cream of chicken soup, and 2 cups of water until smooth and fully combined.

  • Add the chicken
Place the seasoned chicken breasts into the slow cooker, making sure they are fully coated or somewhat submerged in the gravy mixture.

  • Cook low and slow
Cover the slow cooker and cook on Low for about 6 to 8 hours, until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is easy to shred.

  • Shred the chicken
Remove the lid and, using two forks, break the chicken into bite‑sized chunks or shreds right in the slow cooker.

  • Stir in sour cream
Gently fold in the ½ cup of sour cream, incorporating it into the gravy until smooth and creamy.

  • Serve & garnish
Spoon the creamy chicken and gravy over mashed potatoes, rice, egg noodles, or your preferred starch. Top with sliced green onions if desired for a fresh pop of color and flavor.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding vegetables like mushrooms or onions at the beginning. Sour cream should be stirred in gently to avoid curdling. Use low-sodium ingredients if watching sodium intake.
