Ingredients

Scale

1 to 2 cups iceberg lettuce, shredded

½ cup mayonnaise

¼ cup red onion, diced

½ cup dill pickles, roughly chopped

½ cup pickled banana peppers, chopped

3 tablespoons submarine dressing

4 ounces smoked turkey breast

4 ounces salami

4 ounces pepperoni

12 Kings Hawaiian rolls

4 ounces provolone cheese

4 tablespoons butter, melted

1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Prepare the Pan and Oven
Line a 9 by 13 inch baking pan with foil or parchment paper. This makes cleanup easier and helps prevent sticking. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to get it ready for toasting the rolls.
  • Toast the Rolls
Use a large serrated knife to carefully cut the Kings Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Spread a few tablespoons of mayonnaise or butter on the bottom buns. Arrange them cut side up on the lined pan and bake for 5 to 7 minutes or until they are lightly toasted.
  • Make the Chopped Salad
In a large bowl combine the shredded lettuce diced onion chopped banana peppers dill pickles mayonnaise and submarine dressing. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly coated and combined.
  • Heat the Meats
Chop the smoked turkey breast salami and pepperoni into smaller pieces if needed then heat them in a skillet over medium heat just until warmed through. Warming the meats helps to meld flavors with the cheese and ensures they are invitingly warm when served.
  • Assemble the Sliders
Once the rolls are toasted remove them from the oven. Place a layer of provolone cheese followed by the heated meats onto the bottom buns. Place the top buns back on the sliders.
  • Butter and Season
Brush the tops of the assembled sliders with the melted butter then sprinkle the dried Italian seasoning evenly over them. Return the pan to the oven and bake for another 7 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melty and the tops of the rolls are nicely golden.
  • Add the Chopped Salad and Serve
Remove the sliders from the oven and immediately top them with the prepared chopped salad mixture. Serve while warm and enjoy the flavorful contrast of warm cheesy meats and cool tangy salad.

Notes

Add chopped olives or hot peppers for extra zing.

Store salad separately if making ahead.
