Ingredients
1 roll (16.5 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Sugar Cookie Dough
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
Additional 1/4 cup all-purpose flour for rolling
1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 tablespoon shortening
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep Dough
Begin by heating your oven to 350°F. In a large bowl, break up the cookie dough. Add 1/4 cup flour and mix until fully combined. This helps make the dough easier to roll and cut. - Roll and Cut Dough
Lightly flour your work surface with 2 tablespoons flour. Roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thickness using a rolling pin. Use a floured 3-inch heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out as many hearts as possible. Remove excess flour from the dough hearts before placing them 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. - Bake the Cookies
Bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until the edges are light golden brown. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely, about 15 minutes. - Dip in Chocolate
Line a baking sheet with waxed paper. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the chocolate chips and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Dip half of each cookie into the melted chocolate and allow excess to drip off. Place dipped cookies on the waxed paper and refrigerate until chocolate is set.
Notes
Chill dough between batches for easier rolling and cleaner cuts.
Decorate with festive sprinkles or tinted chocolate before the coating sets.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 2 months.
Use white chocolate or colored candy melts for themed designs
