Ingredients
1 1/2 cups black beans (1 15-oz can, drained and rinsed)
2 tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
1/2 cup quick oats (gluten-free if needed)
1/4 tsp salt
1/3 cup pure maple syrup, honey, or agave
Pinch uncut stevia OR 2 tbsp sugar (or increase syrup to 1/2 cup)
1/4 cup coconut oil or vegetable oil
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 to 2/3 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a food processor, combine all ingredients except the chocolate chips. Blend until the batter is completely smooth. This step is crucial for achieving the right texture.
- Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula to evenly distribute.
- Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan, then pour the batter into the pan.
- If desired, sprinkle more chocolate chips on top for added presentation and flavor.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until the edges are firm and the center is mostly set.
- Allow the brownies to cool for no less than 10 minutes before cutting into them.
Notes
Use a food processor for the best texture.
For oil-free brownies, sub with unsweetened applesauce.
