Description
Air Fryer Bacon Wrapped Scallops are the perfect party appetizer—crisp, juicy, and incredibly simple to make in under 30 minutes.
Ingredients
Scale
12 large sea scallops, side muscle removed
6 slices center-cut bacon, halved
Freshly ground black pepper
Cooking spray or oil mist
(Optional: Old Bay, garlic powder, maple syrup, paprika)
Instructions
- Set your air fryer to 400 °F and let it preheat for approximately 3 minutes.
- Place bacon in the air fryer and cook for 3 minutes, flipping halfway—just enough to make it pliable, not crispy.
- Remove bacon and drain on paper towels; allow to cool slightly.
- Prepare scallops: remove any side muscle, pat dry thoroughly.
- Wrap each scallop with bacon (half or full slice, depending on size); secure with a toothpick.
- Lightly spray or brush scallops with cooking oil; season with black pepper—or spices like Old Bay, paprika, garlic.
- Arrange scallops in a single layer, leaving space between them. Cook for 8–12 minutes (around 8 minutes is typical), flipping halfway—internal temp should reach around 125–130 °F.
- Optional: brush or drizzle with maple syrup or garlic-lemon butter before serving.
Notes
Use thawed scallops for best texture.
Avoid overcrowding the air fryer.
Add water to the tray to reduce smoke from bacon drippings.
Internal scallop temperature should reach 125–130°F.
